AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS & GUIDELINES

PROPER CARE FOLLOWING YOUR ENHANCEMENT IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULTS.

General Advice

  • You may experience swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising for the next 4 days

  • Avoid direct sun, tanning treatments, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, pools and direct shower spray for the first 2 weeks after the procedure.  Take a bath instead of showering to avoid wetting the treated area.

  • If you are planning a chemical peel, eye surgery or an MRI scan, inform your doctor of your permanent cosmetics.

  • You may not be eligible to donate blood for a year.

  • No beauty treatments or makeup close to the area for 5 days.

  • Approximate healing is 14 days, this can be prolonged by factors such as a compromised immune system, stress or poor diet.

  • As we work with the skin, some unevenness of colour is to be EXPECTED.  In some instances the pigment can fade as much as 80% of the original colour.  You may require a second procedure (between 4 weeks and within 3 months after first application) and possibly a third depending on your individual skin type and the type of procedure you have selected.

  • It is very important to make a follow up appointment for 4 to 6 weeks after the initial procedure in order to refine the new permanent makeup.  This will ensure a beautiful and pleasing result is achieved and will increase the longevity of the procedure.

Special Instructions for Eyebrows procedures

  • Wait 2 hours after the procedure, then you may GENTLY wash your face but only use a mild cleanser like CETAPHIL or PURE SKIN CLEANSER and PAT DRY with a clean towel - no rubbing!  You can do this 1 - 2 times per day.

  • Apply a THIN layer of healing balm/coconut oil 3 times per day.

  • Anti-inflammatory medications can help to relieve any pain and swelling you might experience in the first 48 hours.

  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.  Itching is normal.  Let any scabbing or dry skin exfoliate naturally.  PICKING MAY CAUSE SCARRING!

  • Keep your hair away from your enhancement to prevent infection.

  • FOR THE FIRST 10 DAYS

    • AVOID sleeping on your face.

    • AVOID heavy sweating.

    • NO swimming, saunas or steamrooms.

    • NO other creams, makeup or any other products on treated area.

  • NO facials, botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure.

  • LONG TERM CARE:                                                                                                                                         Keep skincare products with retinol and acids away from the brow area - it will make it fade quicker.       Keep out of the sun and always wear sunscreen as sun exposure will prematurely fade your enhancement.

Special Instructions for Eyeliner procedures

  • For the first few days, use ice packs, protected with fabric, to reduce swelling.

  • Dry healing achieves the best results, unless you experience watery eyes.  If so, apply the healing balm or Vaseline at least 3x per day as directed until all the scabs are off.

  • If your eye enhancement displays any signs of conjunctivitis, get an antibiotic eye cream from your chemist.

  • You may experience eyelashes sticking together, especially overnight.  If so, clean your enhancement with damp cotton pads.

  • Do not SPLASH WASH your face.

  • If your enhancement gets wet, pat it dry with a clean tissue.

  • Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR RUB your enhancement.  If it feels itchy just tap the lid below or above with a clean cotton bud.  DO NOT SCRATCH.

  • Allow the colour to flake away by itself.

  • Do not wear contact lenses for 24 hours.

  • Use sunglasses to protect your eyes, especially for the first 2 days.

  • Purchase a new mascara once your makeup application resumes (old mascara typically contains bacteria, fungal spores and even mites).

  • No eyelash tinting or curling, or false lash application for the first 2 weeks after the procedure.

Special Instructions for Lip procedures

  • For the first few days, use Ice packs, protected with fabric, to reduce any swelling.

  • Itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR RUB any loose skin off the epithelial crust.  It is important that flaking comes off on its own accord.

  • By pulling or picking at the epithelial crust you will pull the colour from the skin, thus defeating the purpose of the procedure, and it could also cause scarring.

  • Until the crust peels off it is very important to do the following:

    • Apply healing balm regularly using a clean cotton bud.

    • Clean your lips twice daily with damp cotton pads.

    • Keep your lips dry. Do not splash wash your face.

    • If your lips get wet, pat it dry with a clean tissue.

    • Avoid eating spicy or salty foods and drink through a straw for 3 days.

    • No kissing for 5 days.

  • If you suffer from cold sores or ever had one in the past, use Zovirax or anti herpes medication, 5 x daily for a week. If an outbreak occurs it will generally happen on day 3.

  • It is normal to experience dry skin for up to 3 weeks.

  • No bleaching, waxing, electrolysis or laser hair removal close to your enhancement for the first 2 weeks after the procedure.

  • Your colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for 4-5 days and then SHED AWAY APPEARING AS IF LITTLE OR NO COLOUR IS PRESENT.  Over the next 2 weeks the colour will blossom into a considerably softer version of the original colour.

  • IT CAN TAKE UP TO 6 WEEKS FOR THE COLOUR TO MATURE TO THE FINAL HEALED COLOUR.

  • Your final result is the colour implanted plus the colour of your natural skin tone.

  • Use a good sunscreen on a daily basis. Sun exposure will fade your permanent cosmetics.
